Culture & Heritage

The city and its surrounding area boasts some of the most impressive and spectacular architecture in Europe. From the splendid scale of St Georges Hall, the imposing presence of the city’s two cathedrals and the magnificent architecture of the waterfront the modern Liverpool boasts Aintree, home of the Grand National, the World’s most famous steeplechase and Liverpool’s two premiership football clubs. Many museums and galleries can be found including the famous Tate Liverpool.

Business

More than £3bn of investment is currently underway in and around the city centre. The rejuvenated business district houses major white collar employers including Royal & Sun Alliance, Unisys, Alliance & Leicester, MBNA, HBOS and PWC. Michael Page Finance took the decision to open an office in the city after in-depth research illustrated economic conditions in the city were good and showed every sign of continuing to strengthen.

Transport

Liverpool is well connected by road, rail, air and sea. Named in honour of one of Liverpool’s most talented musicians, The John Lennon airport is situated 7 miles south of the city and offers regular flights throughout Europe and the UK. Rail links from Liverpool across the UK are excellent with London only 2½ hours away, the local metro system unites the city and Moorsfields station is a few minutes walk from Unity. Both the M62 and M56 motorways are easily accessible and a new tram system is planned for 2007.

“In Merseyside, most towns are showing good growth, many in double figures. It has again been the regeneration of a major city, in this case Liverpool, that has fuelled this increase in price. Merseyside has seen growth for the year of 10%”
Andrew Bottomley, Regional Manager, Halifax Estate Agency.

“With a 6.8 % increase in 2002-2003 jobs growth in Liverpool was the fastest in England. With growth in Gross Value Added well above the regional average and business start up rates at an all time high, Liverpool is enjoying a resurgence in economic growth and prosperity. Still a competitive cost location, and the recipient of EU Objective 1 funds that have enabled the city to create a modern and sustainable infrastructure, this unprecedented growth is built on strong foundations.”
