The Richmond Magazine – Award-winning development

Luxury housebuilder Octagon has won a coveted gold medal in the What House Awards for its stunning landscape of Richmond Lock - the 14-acre development on the former Brunel University site in St Margarets.

Judges were impressed by the simple elegance of the scheme, which has helped return the site from a postwar university campus to its former glory, recalling the days when it was a 19th century aristocrat's home.

Simple materials, comprising stone dressed walls, gravel and cobble pathways echo the classic style,  say the panel.

The development is set around the Grade II listed former home of Lord Kilmorey, which will be restored as a single dwelling by developer Grant Bovey's Imagine Homes. The property investment company recently acquired the rest of the site from Octagon, which has built luxury townhouses in the grounds.

Grant Bovey's wife, TV presenter Anthea Turner, has dressed the most recent showhome on the site.
